Indian Film Festival brings five screenings to Kino Světozor

The 23rd edition runs from 8 to 10 October, with English subtitles for every film.

Prague's Indian Film Festival returns to Kino Světozor from 8 to 10 October for its 23rd edition. The compact programme of five screenings ranges from historical romance and relationship comedy to vampire horror, and every film is shown with English subtitles.1

The headline title is Cactus Pears, written and directed by Rohan Parashuram Kanawade, a quiet story of grief and same-sex love set in rural Maharashtra. It won the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize for dramatic films at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.1

A Bollywood classic at 20

On Saturday afternoon the festival revisits Rang De Basanti, the 2006 film starring Aamir Khan, which marks its 20th anniversary this year. Showing major Bollywood titles from the 1990s and 2000s has become a regular part of the festival.1

An Indian Dance Festival runs alongside the screenings, with workshops and masterclasses leading up to a Bollywood Fiesta gala at the Rokoko Theatre on 11 October. A separate Bollywood party takes place in Karlín on Saturday night.1
