The news

Villa Müller in Střešovice, Prague 6, has reopened to visitors. The Prague City Museum closed the national cultural monument in February 2025 because water was leaking through the roof terraces, and used the repair to restore the interiors as well.12

During the work, the wooden floors and wall paintings were restored, the textiles cleaned and the security system modernised. Museum director Ivo Macek called it the biggest step since the villa's reconstruction more than twenty years ago.2

The details

New rooms on the route

The tour now leads through almost the entire house. Newly accessible are the parlour, where the Müllers received visitors they did not want in the private rooms, a guest room, bathrooms and an apartment for the servants, a garage with a period car, a vegetable cellar and a wine cellar.2

Curator Eliška Zlatohlávková said the museum used period descriptions to bring back spaces that had served as offices when the villa first opened to the public in 2000. The longer route is meant to explain Loos's Raumplan, in which rooms sit at different heights according to their purpose.23

The museum plans six tours a day, two of them in English. Groups are limited to eight people and tickets must be booked in advance.23
