Uncontrolled fireworks will not be allowed in most of Prague from New Year 2027. City assembly members approved a ban on 18 June, and 15 more districts have since joined, bringing the total to 35 of Prague's 57 districts.1
The city says the ban protects more than 1.1 million residents and their pets. It covers the central districts Prague 1, 2, 3, 5 to 16, 20 and 22, as well as more than twenty smaller districts and villages on the edge of the city. Klánovice, home to a nature park, has a separate full ban.1

Where there is no blanket ban, fireworks can be used only between 17:00 on 31 December and 02:00 on 1 January. They remain banned everywhere near water, natural monuments and protected areas, and within 250 metres of retirement homes, facilities for people with disabilities, livestock farms and veterinary clinics.1
The rules apply to everyone, including visitors from abroad who come to Prague for New Year's Eve.1
